Here at AK Aesthetics, we are a Liverpool based salon providing a variety of beauty treatments to those who live in the UK, including dermaplaning. From our Liverpool base, we can carry out dermaplaning, which is a skin treatment that works at both the surface and on a deeper level. To find out more about our dermaplaning treatments, read on. We will cover what exactly dermaplaning is, any health and safety issues you should consider prior to the treatment, and how you can benefit from dermaplaning with us.
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a type of facial treatment that offers an exfoliation that aims to remove dead skin from the surface, as well as any fine, vellus hair. We carry out dermaplaning using sterile, surgical scalpel. We transform your face into a work of art as the tools gradually sculpt your skin into a smooth, even surface. Although this treatment is not suitable for skin with active acne, that which is very oily, or skin with thick, dark facial hair, it can be used to improve the appearance of superficial acne scarring and issues with an uneven skin tone.
Health and Safety Considerations
When considering dermaplaning, there are a number of health and safety issues that may be relevant to you. For example, it should not be used in combination with chemical peels. You may be concerned about whether dermaplaning is appropriate for more mature skin, or if you are pregnant or lactating. There are no issues with dermaplaning if this is relevant to you, and so unlike chemical peels, you can still benefit from dermaplaning if you are pregnant or lactating (which is not the case with chemical peels). Whilst it is designed as a skin treatment, it does have the added bonus of removing the peach-like facial fuzz, without stimulating new hair growth.
Our Dermaplaning Therapist
At AK Aesthetics, our dermaplaning treatment is carried out by trained aesthetician and beauty therapist Terri. Her light touch makes her ideal to provide our dermaplaning services. As soon as you leave the clinic, you will notice that Terri will have improved the texture and appearance of your skin thanks to her dermaplaning facial treatment skills. To maintain the results, it will be necessary for her to carry out follow-up treatments. As your skin returns to its previous condition, that is the time to book in for another appointment and get rid of the build-up of dead skin cells that form as part of the body’s natural skin cell reproduction process.
